Are you tired of feeling like the last person on the planet without a thesis topic — even though everyone else you know seems to have one (or at least claims to)? Fear not, dear student! Even in the bustling, seat-of-your-pants world of AI, there are ways to secure a solid (and hopefully fun!) research project. Yes, I know it can be tricky — especially when your university supervisor seems as elusive as Bigfoot. But stick around; I’ve got some ideas to lighten the load and keep you on the right track.

Overcrowded AI Labs: The Not-So-Fun Reality Check

We all know AI is “the thing” right now: lectures are bursting at the seams, seminars have waiting lists longer than the line at a free pizza party, and labs can have more than 3000 students enrolled every semester. It’s like trying to visit a busy coffee shop at peak hour — except there are thousands of you and only a few baristas making the cappuccinos. This inevitably makes it really hard to get a foot in the door. The “celebrity” labs might have to triage students, and your brilliant ideas could get lost in a sea of 1,000 other equally brilliant (or not so brilliant) ideas.
